Sofia is one of the richest cities in the world by mineral water. The springs have been used since ancient times and have played a significant role in the development of the city. There are 31 localities registered in the territory of Sofia.
Sofia is also unique in terms of the diversity of mineral waters. There are nine different types of water in the city.
Around 500 liters per second are generated at the bottom of the Sofia Valley. The temperature of the mineral water varies between 30-35 and 80-90 degrees Celsius. Under the city’s territory there is a huge thermal potential. Today, only about 80 liters per second are extracted from it. Most of the thermal baths are closed. The use of thermal water for heating is discontinued. The development of Sofia in a modern spa city is ahead.
Mineral water at the Central Mineral Bath is clear, colorless and odorless, naturally clean. It is poorly mineralized and low radioactive. Water has a moderate to strong alkaline reaction. It is recommended for gastrointestinal, gall-liver, kidney-urological and metabolic diseases.
