In year 864 Prince Boris I imposed Christianity in Bulgaria. After his death the Bulgarian church canonized him as a saint.
In the 10th century, Christianity was accepted by Kievan Russia. Many Bulgarian clergymen and scholars participate in this process. The glory of the Bulgarian saint reached the Russian lands. From there, it gradually spreads to neighboring countries.
By the name of Boris are called several Russian rulers.
